1914 Georgian Bay UFO Encounter: Teen Witnesses Strange Craft with Humanoid Aliens

UFO Sighting occurred back in August 1914, Georgian Bay, Ontario, Canada

The primary witness in this case is William J Kiehl (then 16-years-old.) It was late in the afternoon and he was with two other kids camping near the waters of Georgian Bay. Along with them was a family with three small children. Suddenly, one of them saw a deer staring out at the water, and following its gaze, they all saw a strange craft (with humanoids on it) floating out on the surface of the water. The craft was about 450 feet from shore.

The craft was shaped like a Bell Jar Shaped  flattened sphere with a gray surface and a chrome-colored ring-like structure around the bottom. The craft was shaped much like a bell-jar, about 15 feet high, and had colored lights on it. At the bottom of the craft were two short men, about 4 feet tall, dressed in tight-fitting, iridescent purple-green jumpsuits with yellow box-shaped helmets on their heads. The little men had skinny little bodies and over-sized heads.

The two figures were manipulating a green hose, which emerged from a door in the center of the craft and hung down into the water. It looked to William like they were trying to work out the kinks in the hose, which was about 2-3 inches in diameter with a rounded device on the end of it. On top of the craft were what looked like three short pipes or rods. William could see through the hatch into the craft itself and saw what looked like bright green tiles.

WILLIAM: “I saw this deer about 12 feet from the water’s edge looking out on the bay, and I looked out and saw this object. There were 2 little men with square masks on their heads working with some kind of hose coming out of the water and going up into the machine. There was a green zigzag around the center like it might be electricity traveling around, and a bright silver band around the other side.”

After watching for a few moments, the witnesses observed three more little men appear from the top of the craft. These three also had yellow, box-shaped helmets, but wore khaki-colored clothing. They were working with the three pipes on the top of the craft. After a few moments, the three men on top of the craft turned and looked piercingly at the deer, not seeming to notice the humans who were watching them too, and went back inside, at which time, the pipes also retracted into the craft. One of the little men on the bottom of the craft jumped inside, but the door closed before the other little man could get inside.

Very quickly, the craft began to rise above the water. The water from the craft streamed back into the bay.  One of the smaller men at the bottom was still hanging outside of the craft, clinging to the chrome ring at the base of the UFO craft. The craft rose about 15 feet, allowing William to see a strange lattice-work of square metal on the bottom.

WILLIAM: “It must have gone to a larger ship somewhere, because it seemed too small to have traveled millions of miles from another planet by itself. It was not from this planet.”

The UFO craft then titled at an angle and rose upward at an angle, trailing steam, and moved rapidly out of sight, with the one little man still holding desperately onto the outside of the craft. Everyone was very much startled by the incident, and yet strangely nobody talked about it. Though William often thought of the little man who had been locked outside and wondered what became of him.

APRO's investigator asked Mr. Kiehl what was said about the incident by his companions and Kiehl replied that they were all startled at the incident, but talked little about it afterward. For one thing, there was a language problem. The Canadian family spoke only French and the young college student was the only interpreter and his French apparently was not the best.

Kiel originally kept the story secret for over 50 years until reading articles by Coral Lorenzen in Fate magazine.

APRO, led by the Lorenzens, eventually in late spring, 1966. interviewed Kiel in the San Francisco area to verify his claims.
