Elizabeth Klarer: The Woman Who Claimed to Have Travelled to a Planet in Proxima Centauri

Elizabeth Klarer (1910–1994) was a South African woman who became one of the most well-known figures in ufology for claiming to have had a series of encounters with extraterrestrial beings between the 1950s and 1960s. According to her account, she not only saw UFOs but also developed a romantic relationship with one of the crew members of one of these spacecraft.

According to Klarer, her first sighting occurred in her childhood, when she observed a silver object shaped like a disc over her family's farm. Years later, in 1954, she claimed to have found a spaceship on a hill in the Natal region of South Africa. The crew member she saw inside the vehicle introduced himself as Akon.

In 1956, Klarer reported a new encounter with Akon, claiming she was taken inside a small spaceship and then to a large mother ship in the shape of a cigar. She described the interior as resembling a garden and claimed she had met an advanced extraterrestrial civilization.

According to her account, during one of these encounters, Akon revealed that Elizabeth Klarer would be a Venusian reincarnated, a soul who had previously lived on Venus, and that the two had a special connection of past lives. He also claimed that some Venusians lived secretly among humans and had relationships with inhabitants of Earth.

She also claimed to have photographed an alien spacecraft in July 1956 using a simple camera, claiming to have captured seven images of a UFO that appeared near her family's farm. The photographs became one of the most well-known parts of the case, although they were never considered conclusive evidence.

The most famous aspect of her story came years later, when Klarer claimed her relationship with Akon continued and that she had been taken to the planet Meton, a world that, according to her, orbited the star Proxima Centauri, in the closest star system to the Sun. She said that there she gave birth to a son named Ayling, the result of her alleged union with the extraterrestrial being.

Klarer described Meton as an advanced society, without poverty or scarcity, where its inhabitants used superior technologies and lived in harmony with the environment. His experiences were published in the book "Beyond the Light Barrier" (1980), in which he presented his ideas about extraterrestrial life, cosmic consciousness, and a possible connection between humans and civilizations from other worlds.
