The Mysterious Sighting Of The Large UFO Doughnut 1961

Large UFO Doughnut Sighting September 21, 1961 Pacific Ocean.

The time of this sighting was 7:00 a.m. two airliners and a U.S. ship at sea simultaneously observe a UFO over the North Pacific for about 10 minutes. The object moves southeasterly at extremely high altitude.

The S.S. Iberville, located north and east of Midway Island, spots a white object about 20° above the northwest horizon. At first it appears about twice the size of the full moon, but as it passes overhead its size expands to more than four times the full moon, resembling a huge halo with a bright center.

At the same time, a BOAC airliner about 800 miles northeast of the ship sees the UFO overtake the plane from a steep angle above. Captain R. F. Griffin describes it as a giant smoke ring, about four times the size of the full moon, with clear sky visible through the center. At one point, a star shines through the middle. He also sees a ray of light projecting downward.

A Pan American Airways plane, about 400 miles southeast of the BOAC aircraft, also confirms the sighting. Its pilot describes a doughnut-shaped object moving easterly about 10° above the horizon.

Identified as a Soviet Union test firing of a multi-stage carrier rocket over the Pacific?.
