According to officials from the state-run Vietnam News Organization, an unidentified flying object exploded over the northern region of Phu Quoc Island at approximately 10:00 a.m. on May 27. 2008. The report originated from Colonel Nguyen Van Qui, a military commander stationed on the island. Authorities confirmed that no civilian, commercial, or military aircraft were reported missing in southern Vietnam or neighboring Cambodia at the time of the incident.
